In Module 1 we will breakdowns the ins and outs of the YouTube platform, what makes it tick, and some essential strategies on how to get more views on your content. We will break down concepts like CTR (click-through-rate), audience retention, SEO vs algorithm based video strategies, and a full walk-through of the different parts of YouTube that make up the platform. By the end of this module you will have a clear understanding of how the platform works, what to make your videos about, and how to get them seen by more people so that you can grow your YouTube channel/subscriber base.

In Module 2 we will discuss every piece of video production gear you will need in order to start making stellar YouTube content. We will go over basic set ups like simply using your iPhone and natural light, to more advanced set ups like what mirrorless camera to buy and how to light it with a professional lighting set-up for clean and consistent looking videos. Confused about what sort of mic you should buy to get high quality audio for your videos? We cover that too! We will even breakdown the computers and the video editing software that you'll need to edit your videos. No more being frustrated by video gear! We will go over it all and include links to all the gear we discuss in a master gear list.

Video settings are often the main thing that stops people from filming YouTube videos. This is because people in the field of videography have a nasty habit of over-complicating these topics and diving too deep into every single setting and sub-menu of a camera. In this module we will show you exactly how to film your videos in natural light with an iPhone, how to set up a video light for a more professional set-up, and a walk-through of how to set up your iPhone or mirrorless camera to film your videos. Say good-bye to endlessly  searching the internet and sifting through hours of over-complicated cinematography tutorials. By the end of this module you'll know exactly how to film your videos.

Once you've filmed your videos, you'll need to know how to cut them up and get them edited and ready to publish. In this module we will break down the editing essentials like what software, music licensing website, and web apps. you'll need to streamline your editing workflows. We will also do a full walk-through of how to edit a typical YouTube video in a free program like iMovie, and a more advanced editor like Final Cut Pro. No matter what your skill level, we will help guide you through the sometimes confusing process of editing, and explain the different editing tools and export settings in a way that is simple and easy to understand.

Your video is finally ready to be published! First, you'll need to create an engaging thumbnail and then add that killer title to help get your video more clicks. We will discuss the strategy of creating thumbnails and titles, as well as show you exactly how I create a thumbnail using a intuitive apps like Canva. I'll also show you exactly how I upload the video into the back end of YouTube, add final assets like end cards, and publish the video for the world to see. In the final lessons we will cover how to understand your video analytics, what they mean, and how they can help you better understand what is and isn't working for your channel.

My love for filmmaking started when I was only 8 years old, when I took my parents Sony Handy-cam and created home movies with my brothers. I became obsessed with learning everything I could to improve these videos and make them look more like real movies. In high school I experimented more with filmmaking when I got my first DSLR and started getting paid to make videos for other people. One of my most defining moments was when my 11th grade English teacher told me:

"Filmmaking isn't a viable career path and you'll never make any money in it."

Through a burst of stubbornness, child-like hope, and naiveté, I decided I would use those words as fuel to make my dreams a reality. I would eventually take the leap to drop out of business school and pursue my passion for video full time. In the matter of a year, filmmaking went from being a hobby, to a full blown career. Fast forward 8 years, and I am doing what I love every day and getting to help couples, and creatives tell their story through video. I've directed TV shows, produced educational series for other creatives, and told the love stories of countless couples. None of this would have ever been possible if that feisty 17 year old boy didn't take a shot at making it happen. Everything that I have learned about making videos, and the strategy behind how to monetize them has been earned through nearly a decade of trial and error. This is why I am so passionate about condensing the knowledge I have and distilling it down into an easy to understand and accessible way. DO I NEED TO BUY GEAR?

Nope! We use an intuitive and easy to understand web platform called Kajabi. All of your videos will be accessible via course portal and viewed similar to how you would watch YouTube videos.

DO I NEED SPECIAL SOFTWARE TO VIEW THE COURSE MATERIALS?
